Candice Roman

Candice graduated from James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA, USA) with a B.S. in Integrated Science and Technology. She double-concentrated in Biotechnology and Engineering & Manufacturing and completed “A Case Study: Myotubular Myopathy” on March 30, 2000 to fulfill an assignment in her Biotechnology for the New Millennium II class.

Having been personally affected by this disease, Candice was extremely motivated to pursue a career in research with the hope of ultimately helping work towards a treatment and / or cure for MTM. She spent a summer interning at a small biotechnology company in Charlottesville, VA, where her duties included data collection and retrieval, ELISA assays (for the detection of indoor allergens derived from house dust mites, cat, dog, cockroaches, and fungi), gel electrophoresis, and the standardization of allergen extracts produced by manufacturers for allergy diagnosis and treatment but quickly realized that lab work might not be the best choice for her.

Upon graduation, Candice was recruited to work for GeneEd, Inc. in San Francisco, CA, a leading provider of e-Learning solutions to the life science industry, where she is still currently employed.
